“ Now therefore,” he said,“ put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel.”

“ Now then,” said Joshua,“ throw away the foreign gods that are among you and yield your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Now then,” said Joshua,“ throw away the statues of the gods that are among you. People from other lands serve those gods. Give yourselves completely to the Lord. He is the God of Israel.”

He said,“ Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ All right then,” Joshua said,“ destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

“ Then get rid of the foreign gods that are among you and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel.”

“ Now then, do away with the foreign gods which are in your midst, and incline your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Now therefore put away, said he, the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.

“ Then get rid of the foreign gods that are among you and offer your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Now therefore put away,[ said he], the strange gods which[ are] among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

Joshua said,“ Now put aside the foreign gods that are among you and submit to the LORD God of Israel.”

“ Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to Yahweh, the God of Israel.”

“ Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!

What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.

And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“ I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”Therefore“ Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”“ I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying,“ If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”So the children of Israel put away the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and served the Lord only.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.For our God is a consuming fire.

And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone.”So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.

And the children of Israel said to the Lord,“ We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems best to You; only deliver us this day, we pray.”So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel.

You shall not make anything to be with Me— gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.

Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness.

Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.

So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding;

Take words with you, And return to the Lord. Say to Him,“ Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips.Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands,‘ You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”

that He may incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers.

“ Ephraim shall say,‘ What have I to do anymore with idols?’ I have heard and observed him. I am like a green cypress tree; Your fruit is found in Me.”
