Joshua said to the people,“ You are not able to serve the Lord. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.

Joshua warned the people,“ You will not keep worshiping the LORD, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God who will not forgive your rebellion or your sins.

Joshua said to the people,“ You can’t serve Yahweh, for he is a holy God. He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your disobedience nor your sins.

Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name[ is] in him.

And the men of Bethshemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?

Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God[ am] holy.

But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God[ am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth[ generation] of them that hate me;

Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool;[ for] he[ is] holy.

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God[ is] holy.

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name[ is] Jealous,[ is] a jealous God:

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy,[ is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth[ is] full of his glory.And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.Then said I, Woe[ is] me! for I am undone; because I[ am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD[ am] holy, and have severed you from[ other] people, that ye should be mine.

[ Thou art] of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,[ and] holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth[ the man that is] more righteous than he?

And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.

Now therefore put away,[ said he], the strange gods which[ are] among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear[ the guilty]; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth[ generation].

And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come,[ and] set them on fire: for it[ is] a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.

Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

Then Moses said unto Aaron, This[ is it] that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till[ there was] no remedy.

But I[ say], that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,If any[ man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have[ sufficient] to finish[ it]?Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish[ it], all that behold[ it] begin to mock him,Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
