As the men started on their way to map out the land, Joshua instructed them,“ Go and make a survey of the land and write a description of it. Then return to me, and I will cast lots for you here at Shiloh in the presence of the Lord.”

所以，我们务要追求和睦的事与彼此建立德行的事。

约书亚就在示罗，耶和华面前，为他们拈阄。约书亚在那里，按着以色列人的支派，将地分给他们。

众人就祷告说：“主啊，你知道万人的心，求你从这两个人中，指明你所拣选的是谁，叫他得这使徒的位分。这位分犹大已经丢弃，往自己的地方去了。”

以色列的全会众都聚集在示罗，把会幕设立在那里，那地已经被他们制伏了。

你们要将地分作七份，写明了拿到我这里来。我要在耶和华我们神面前，为你们拈阄。

扫罗祷告耶和华以色列的神说：“求你指示实情。”于是掣签掣出扫罗和约拿单来；百姓尽都无事。

以色列人在迦南地所得的产业，就是祭司以利亚撒和嫩的儿子约书亚，并以色列各支派的族长所分给他们的，都记在下面，是照耶和华藉摩西所吩咐的，把产业拈阄分给九个半支派。

你起来，纵横走遍这地，因为我必把这地赐给你。”

于是，约书亚清早起来，使以色列人按着支派近前来，取出来的是犹大支派；使犹大支派近前来，就取了谢拉的宗族；使谢拉的宗族，按着家室人丁，一个一个地近前来，取出来的是撒底；使撒底的家室，按着人丁，一个一个地近前来，就取出犹大支派的人谢拉的曾孙，撒底的孙子，迦米的儿子亚干。

犹大支派按着宗族拈阄所得之地是在尽南边，到以东的交界，向南直到寻的旷野。

现在你要把这地分给九个支派和玛拿西半个支派为业。”
