捉住了疏割的一個青年人，問他疏割的首領和長老是誰；他就把疏割的首領和長老七十七個人的名字寫出來給他。基甸到了疏割人那裏，就說：『你們從前指着西巴和撒慕拿譏罵我說：「是不是西巴和撒慕拿的手掌現在已在你手中、我們就該將餅給你那些疲乏的人喫呢？」現在你看，西巴和撒慕拿在這裏呢！』就把那城的長老跟野地的荊條和枳棘拿了來，用荊條枳棘把疏割人教訓了一頓；

基甸對疏割人說：『請把幾個餅給跟隨我的人喫，因為他們很疲乏，我呢、又在追趕着米甸王西巴和撒慕拿。』疏割的首領說：『是不是西巴和撒慕拿的手掌現在已在你手中、我們就該將餅給你的軍隊喫呢？』
