地上的君王、臣宰、將軍、富戶、壯士，和一切為奴的、自主的，都藏在山洞和巖石穴裏，向山和巖石說：「倒在我們身上吧！把我們藏起來，躲避坐寶座者的臉面和羔羊的憤怒；因為他們遭憤怒的大日子到了，誰能站得住呢？」

對他們說：「我知道耶和華已經把這地賜給你們了，並且我們也都懼怕你們。這地所有的居民在你們面前都融化了。因為我們聽見你們出埃及的時候，耶和華怎樣在你們前面使紅海的水乾了，並且你們怎樣處置約旦河東的兩個亞摩利王，西宏和噩，把他們完全消滅。我們一聽見就膽戰心驚，人人因你們的緣故勇氣全失。耶和華－你們的上帝是天上地下的上帝。現在我既然恩待你們，求你們指着耶和華向我起誓，你們也要恩待我的父家。請你們給我一個確實的憑據，要救活我的父母、兄弟、姊妹，和所有屬他們的，拯救我們的性命脫離死亡。」

惡人所怕的，必臨到他；義人的心願，必蒙應允。

地上的萬民見你歸在耶和華的名下，就必懼怕你。

大衛對亞吉說：「我若蒙你看得起，求你在郊外的城鎮中賜我一個地方，讓我住在那裏。僕人何必與王同住京城呢？」

約押攻打亞捫人的拉巴，攻佔了京城。

惟有戰戰兢兢等候審判和那將吞滅眾敵人的烈火了。

看哪，諸王會合，一同經過。他們見了這城就驚奇喪膽，急忙逃跑。戰兢在那裏抓住他們，他們好像臨產的婦人一樣陣痛。

你們遭難，我就發笑；驚恐臨到你們，驚恐如狂風來臨，災難好像暴風來到，急難痛苦臨到你們身上，我必嗤笑。

落在永生上帝的手裏真是可怕呀！
