他们又对约书亚说：“耶和华真的把那地全交在我们手里了；那地所有的居民都在我们面前胆战心惊。”

地上的君王、大臣、军长、财主、勇士和所有作奴隶的、自由的，都藏在山洞和岩穴里。他们向山岭和岩石说：“倒在我们身上吧！把我们藏起来，躲避坐在宝座上那位的面，和羊羔的震怒！因为他们震怒的大日子来到了，谁能站立得住呢？”

对他们二人说：“我知道耶和华已经把这地赐给你们了，你们使我们十分害怕，这地所有的居民都在你们面前胆战心惊。因为我们听见你们从埃及出来的时候，耶和华怎样使红海的水在你们面前干了，以及你们怎样对待约旦河东亚摩利人的两个王西宏和噩，把他们完全消灭。我们听见了，就都心里惊怕；没有一人再有勇气在你们面前站立；因为耶和华你们的神是天上、也是地上的神。现在求你们指着耶和华向我起誓：我既然恩待了你们，你们也要恩待我的父家，并且给我一个确实的凭据，放过我的父母、兄弟姊妹和他们所有的一切，救我们的命不致死亡。”

恶人所怕的，必临到他身上；义人所愿的，必蒙应允。

地上万民见你被称为耶和华名下的人，就必惧怕你。

大卫对亚吉说：“我若是在你眼前蒙恩，求你在这地的城市中，给我一个地方，让我住在那里。为什么要你的仆人与你一同住在王城呢？”

那时，约押正在攻打亚扪人的拉巴，攻取了王城。

只好恐惧地等待着审判，和那快要吞灭众仇敌的烈火。

看哪！列王会合，一同前进。他们一见这城，就惊惶，慌忙逃跑。他们在那里战栗恐惧；他们痛苦好像妇人分娩时一样。

所以你们遭难的时候，我就发笑；惊恐临到你们的日子，我就嗤笑。惊恐临到你们好像风暴，灾难如同飓风来临，患难困苦临到你们身上。

落在永活的神手里，真是可怕的。
