The people of Nineveh believed God’s warning. So they decided not to eat any food for a while. And all of them put on the rough clothing people wear when they’re sad. That’s what everyone did, from the least important of them to the most important.

你们要使禁食的日子分别为圣，宣告严肃会，召集长老和这地所有的居民来到耶和华—你们神的殿，向耶和华哀求。

约沙法惧怕，就定意寻求耶和华，在全犹大宣告禁食。

我面向主神，禁食，披麻蒙灰，恳切祷告祈求。

看哪，明天大约这时候，我必使大量的冰雹降下，这是从埃及立国直到如今没有出现过的。现在，你要派人把你的牲畜和你田间一切所有的带去躲避；任何在田间，无论是人是牲畜没有回到屋内的，冰雹必降在他们身上，他们就必死。’”法老的臣仆中，惧怕耶和华这话的，就让他的奴仆和牲畜逃进屋里。但那不把耶和华这话放在心上的，就把他的奴仆和牲畜留在田里。

所以，诸位可以放心，我信神怎样对我说，事情也要怎样成就；

信就是对所盼望之事有把握，对未见之事有确据。

所有的人，从小到大都听从他，说：“这个人就是神的能力，那称为大能者的。”
