他们或听，或不听，你只管将我的话告诉他们；他们是极其悖逆的。

“起来，到尼尼微大城去，向其中的居民宣告，因为他们的恶已达到我面前。”

所以你当束腰，起来，将我所吩咐你的一切话都告诉他们；不要因他们惊惶，免得我使你在他们面前惊惶。

“人子啊，我立你作以色列家的守望者，所以你要听我口中的话，替我警戒他们。

后来耶稣在圣殿里找到他，对他说：“你已经痊愈了，不要再犯罪，免得你的遭遇更坏。”

所以耶和华如此说：“你若回转，我就使你归回，站在我面前。你若能将宝物和无用之物分别出来，你就可以当作我的口。他们必归向你，你却不可归向他们。我必使你向这百姓成为坚固的铜墙。他们必攻击你，却不能胜过你；因我与你同在，要拯救你，搭救你。这是耶和华说的。我必搭救你脱离恶人的手，救赎你脱离残暴之人的手。”

你们要结出果子来，和悔改的心相称。

耶和华要伸手攻击北方，毁灭亚述，使尼尼微荒凉，干旱如同旷野。群畜，就是各类的走兽必卧在其中，鹈鹕和豪猪要宿在柱顶；窗户有鸣叫的声音，门槛毁坏，他要毁坏香柏木板。这素来欢乐、安然居住的城，心里说：“惟有我，除我以外再没有别的”，现在竟然荒凉，成为野兽躺卧之处！凡经过的人都必摇着手嗤笑它。

约拿就照耶和华的话起来，到尼尼微去。尼尼微是一座极大的城，约有三天的路程。
