To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit.

I sank down to the bottom of the mountains. I thought I had died and gone down into the grave forever. But you are the Lord my God. You brought my life up from the very edge of the pit of death.

大山未曾奠定，小山未有之先，我已出生。那時，他還沒有創造大地和田野，並世上頭一撮塵土。他立高天，我在那裏，他在淵面的周圍劃出圓圈，上使穹蒼堅硬，下使淵源穩固，為滄海定出範圍，使水不越過界限，奠定大地的根基。

因為你必不將我的靈魂撇在陰間，也不讓你的聖者見地府。

誰曾用手心量諸水，用手虎口量蒼天，用升斗盛大地的塵土，用秤稱山嶺，用天平稱岡陵呢？

上帝啊，你必使惡人墜入滅亡的坑；那好流人血、行詭詐的人必活不過半生，但我要倚靠你。

諸山上升，諸谷下沉，歸你為它所立定之地。

耶和華啊，求你速速應允我！我的心神耗盡！求你不要轉臉不顧我，免得我像那些下入地府的人一樣。

你既以大能束腰，就用力量安定諸山，

上帝就施恩給他，說：『要救贖他免得下入地府，我已經得了贖價。

上帝已經向我們這些作他們兒女的應驗，使耶穌復活了。正如《詩篇》第二篇上記着：『你是我的兒子，我今日生了你。』論到上帝使他從死人中復活，不再歸於朽壞，他曾這樣說：『我必將所應許大衛那聖潔、可靠的恩典賜給你們。』所以他也在另一篇說：『你必不讓你的聖者見朽壞。』大衛在世的時候，遵行了上帝的旨意就長眠了，歸到他祖宗那裏，已見朽壞；惟獨上帝使他復活的那一位，他並未見朽壞。

「我被害流血，下到地府，有何益處呢？塵土豈能稱謝你、傳揚你的信實嗎？

「我立大地根基的時候，你在哪裏？你若明白事理，只管說吧！你知道是誰定地的尺度，是誰把準繩拉在其上嗎？地的根基安置在何處？地的角石是誰安放的？那時，晨星一同歌唱；上帝的眾使者也都歡呼。「當海水衝出，如出母胎，誰用門將它關閉呢？是我用雲彩當海的衣服，用幽暗當包裹它的布，為它定界限，又安門和閂，說：『你只可到這裏，不可越過；你狂傲的浪要到此止住。』

因為我的怒火焚燒，直燒到極深的陰間，吞噬地和地的出產，連山的根基也燒着了。

他站立，震動大地，他觀看，震動列國。永久的山崩裂，長存的嶺塌陷，他的作為與古時一樣。

你用深水遮蓋地面，猶如衣裳；諸水高過山嶺。

山嶺見你，無不戰抖；大水氾濫而過，深淵發聲，洶湧翻騰。

上帝救贖我的性命免入地府，我的生命也必見光。』
