Let the priests, who minister before the Lord, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say,“ Spare your people, Lord. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”

Let the priests who serve the Lord weep. Let them cry between the temple porch and the altar. Let them say,“ Lord, spare your people. Don’t let others make fun of them. Don’t let the nations laugh at them. Don’t let them tease your people and say,‘ Where is their God?’ ”

Between the vestibule and the altar let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep and say,“ Spare your people, O Lord, and make not your heritage a reproach, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”

Let the priests, who minister in the Lord’s presence, stand and weep between the entry room to the Temple and the altar. Let them pray,“ Spare your people, Lord! Don’t let your special possession become an object of mockery. Don’t let them become a joke for unbelieving foreigners who say,‘ Has the God of Israel left them?’”

Let the priests, the LORD’s ministers, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say,“ Have pity on your people, LORD, and do not make your inheritance a disgrace, an object of scorn among the nations. Why should it be said among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”

Let the priests, the Lord’s ministers, Weep between the porch and the altar, And let them say,“ Spare Your people, Lord, And do not make Your inheritance a disgrace, With the nations jeering at them. Why should those among the peoples say,‘ Where is their God?’ ”

Let the priests, the ministers of Jehovah, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Jehovah, and give not thy heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?

Let the priests, the Lord’s ministers, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say:“ Have pity on Your people, Lord, and do not make Your inheritance a disgrace, an object of scorn among the nations. Why should it be said among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”

Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where[ is] their God?

Let the priests, those who serve the LORD, weep from the vestibule all the way back to the altar. Let them say,“ Have pity, O LORD, on your people; please do not turn over your inheritance to be mocked, to become a proverb among the nations. Why should it be said among the peoples,“ Where is their God?”

Let the priests, the ministers of Yahweh, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say,“ Spare your people, Yahweh, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples,‘ Where is their God?’”

He then brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east. (niv)

Why should the nations say,“ Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants. (niv)

And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, Lord, are with these people and that you, Lord, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.If you put all these people to death, leaving none alive, the nations who have heard this report about you will say,‘ The Lord was not able to bring these people into the land he promised them on oath, so he slaughtered them in the wilderness.’ (niv)

My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long,“ Where is your God?” (niv)

How long will the enemy mock you, God? Will the foe revile your name forever? (niv)

Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.” (niv)

Then my enemy will see it and will be covered with shame, she who said to me,“ Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will see her downfall; even now she will be trampled underfoot like mire in the streets. (niv)

“ Lord,” he said,“ if I have found favor in your eyes, then let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff- necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance.” (niv)

Then I cried out,“ Sovereign Lord, I beg you, stop! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!” (niv)

On the altar of the Lord that he had built in front of the portico, Solomon sacrificed burnt offerings to the Lord, (niv)

When they had stripped the land clean, I cried out,“ Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!” (niv)

The portico at the front of the main hall of the temple extended the width of the temple, that is twenty cubits, and projected ten cubits from the front of the temple. (niv)

Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the house of the Lord. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the Lord. (niv)

And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. (niv)

therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign Lord: This is what the Sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the desolate ruins and the deserted towns that have been plundered and ridiculed by the rest of the nations around you—this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, for with glee and with malice in their hearts they made my land their own possession so that they might plunder its pastureland.’Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I speak in my jealous wrath because you have suffered the scorn of the nations.Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I swear with uplifted hand that the nations around you will also suffer scorn. (niv)

Why, Lord, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not revere you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.For a little while your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary.We are yours from of old; but you have not ruled over them, they have not been called by your name. (niv)

But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God.“ Lord,” he said,“ why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?Why should the Egyptians say,‘ It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self:‘ I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’” (niv)

the taunts with which your enemies, Lord, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one. (niv)

then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. (niv)

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him:“ Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. (niv)

Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.” (niv)

then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. Israel will then become a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. (niv)

Remember how the enemy has mocked you, Lord, how foolish people have reviled your name.Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever.Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy praise your name.Rise up, O God, and defend your cause; remember how fools mock you all day long.Do not ignore the clamor of your adversaries, the uproar of your enemies, which rises continually. (niv)

You made us retreat before the enemy, and our adversaries have plundered us.You gave us up to be devoured like sheep and have scattered us among the nations.You sold your people for a pittance, gaining nothing from their sale.You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us.You have made us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us. (niv)

You will become a thing of horror, a byword and an object of ridicule among all the peoples where the Lord will drive you. (niv)

My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long,“ Where is your God?” (niv)

But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites. (niv)

Do not be angry beyond measure, Lord; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look on us, we pray, for we are all your people.Your sacred cities have become a wasteland; even Zion is a wasteland, Jerusalem a desolation.Our holy and glorious temple, where our ancestors praised you, has been burned with fire, and all that we treasured lies in ruins.After all this, Lord, will you hold yourself back? Will you keep silent and punish us beyond measure? (niv)

but I dreaded the taunt of the enemy, lest the adversary misunderstand and say,‘ Our hand has triumphed; the Lord has not done all this.’” (niv)

“ Now plead with God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?”— says the Lord Almighty. (niv)

All who pass by have plundered him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors. (niv)

We are objects of contempt to our neighbors, of scorn and derision to those around us. (niv)

Put on sackcloth, you priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God. (niv)

He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’” (niv)

When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the Lord your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the Lord had commanded you.So I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands, breaking them to pieces before your eyes.Then once again I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so arousing his anger.I feared the anger and wrath of the Lord, for he was angry enough with you to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me.And the Lord was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him, but at that time I prayed for Aaron too.Also I took that sinful thing of yours, the calf you had made, and burned it in the fire. Then I crushed it and ground it to powder as fine as dust and threw the dust into a stream that flowed down the mountain.You also made the Lord angry at Taberah, at Massah and at Kibroth Hattaavah.And when the Lord sent you out from Kadesh Barnea, he said,“ Go up and take possession of the land I have given you.” But you rebelled against the command of the Lord your God. You did not trust him or obey him.You have been rebellious against the Lord ever since I have known you.I lay prostrate before the Lord those forty days and forty nights because the Lord had said he would destroy you.I prayed to the Lord and said,“ Sovereign Lord, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Overlook the stubbornness of this people, their wickedness and their sin.Otherwise, the country from which you brought us will say,‘ Because the Lord was not able to take them into the land he had promised them, and because he hated them, he brought them out to put them to death in the wilderness.’But they are your people, your inheritance that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm.” (niv)

“ But see, we are slaves today, slaves in the land you gave our ancestors so they could eat its fruit and the other good things it produces. (niv)
