長老居民、尚其聽之哉、我將有言、乃爾父及今所未聞也、

老者當聽、斯地之居民、尚其傾耳、將有一災、爾曹在世之日、爾祖在世之日、未有如是者、未有如是者原文作曾有如是者乎

Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days or in the days of your ancestors?

Hear this, you priests! Pay attention, you Israelites! Listen closely, O king! For judgment is about to overtake you! For you were like a trap to Mizpah, like a net spread out to catch Tabor.

It will be a day of dreadful darkness, a day of foreboding storm clouds, like blackness spread over the mountains. It is a huge and powerful army– there has never been anything like it ever before, and there will not be anything like it for many generations to come!

“ For inquire now of the former generation, and pay attention to the findings of their ancestors;

Alas, what a terrible time of trouble it is! There has never been any like it. It is a time of trouble for the descendants of Jacob, but some of them will be rescued out of it.

The one who has ears had better listen!”

Listen to this, you leaders of the family of Jacob, you rulers of the nation of Israel! You hate justice and pervert all that is right.

The gray-haired and the aged are on our side, men far older than your father.

Announce a holy fast; proclaim a sacred assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the temple of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.

“ At that time Michael, the great prince who watches over your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress unlike any other from the nation’s beginning up to that time. But at that time your own people, all those whose names are found written in the book, will escape.

Listen to this message, you cows of Bashan who live on Mount Samaria! You oppress the poor; you crush the needy. You say to your husbands,“ Bring us more to drink!”

Indeed, ask about the distant past, starting from the day God created humankind on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether there has ever been such a great thing as this, or even a rumor of it.Have a people ever heard the voice of God speaking from the middle of fire, as you yourselves have, and lived to tell about it?Or has God ever before tried to deliver a nation from the middle of another nation, accompanied by judgments, signs, wonders, war, strength, power, and other very terrifying things like the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?You have been taught that the LORD alone is God– there is no other besides him.

Tell them:‘ Hear this, you foolish people who have no understanding, who have eyes but do not discern, who have ears but do not perceive:

Hear the word of the LORD, you Israelites! For the LORD has a covenant lawsuit against the people of Israel. For there is neither faithfulness nor loyalty in the land, nor do they acknowledge God.

Listen, all you nations! Pay attention, all inhabitants of earth! The sovereign LORD will testify against you; the LORD will accuse you from his majestic palace.

Listen, you Israelites, to this message which the LORD is proclaiming against you! This message is for the entire clan I brought up from the land of Egypt:

The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will permit him to eat from the tree of life that is in the paradise of God.’

I said,“ Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the nation of Israel! You ought to know what is just,

Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?

Listen to this funeral song I am ready to sing about you, family of Israel:

“ Why do the wicked go on living, grow old, even increase in power?

The LORD will bring on you, your people, and your father’s family a time unlike any since Ephraim departed from Judah– the king of Assyria!”

Listen to this, all you nations! Pay attention, all you inhabitants of the world!

Come near, you nations, and listen! Pay attention, you people! The earth and everything it contains must listen, the world and everything that lives in it.

For then there will be great suffering unlike anything that has happened from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen.
