He speaks to the sun and it does not shine; he seals off the light of the stars.

When he tells the sun not to shine, it doesn’t. He turns off the light of the stars.

For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going out, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.

There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves;men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

It will happen in that day,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day.

When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and make its stars dark. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon won’t give its light.I will make all the bright lights of the sky dark over you, and set darkness on your land,” says the Lord Yahweh.

“ What is the way to the dwelling of light? As for darkness, where is its place,that you should take it to its bound, that you should discern the paths to its house?

But immediately after the suffering of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken;

For, behold, he who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought; who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the high places of the earth: Yahweh, the God of Armies, is his name.”

Then Joshua spoke to Yahweh in the day when Yahweh delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel. He said in the sight of Israel,“ Sun, stand still on Gibeon! You, moon, stop in the valley of Aijalon!”
