For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy. He has not turned his back on them, but has listened to their cries for help.

But the Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens.

Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud.

We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; but even though he is just and righteous, he does not destroy us.

How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!

You have all wisdom and do great and mighty miracles. You see the conduct of all people, and you give them what they deserve.

By his power the sea grew calm. By his skill he crushed the great sea monster.His Spirit made the heavens beautiful, and his power pierced the gliding serpent.These are just the beginning of all that he does, merely a whisper of his power. Who, then, can comprehend the thunder of his power?”

“ If I have been unfair to my male or female servants when they brought their complaints to me,

“ But true wisdom and power are found in God; counsel and understanding are his.What he destroys cannot be rebuilt. When he puts someone in prison, there is no escape.If he holds back the rain, the earth becomes a desert. If he releases the waters, they flood the earth.Yes, strength and wisdom are his; deceivers and deceived are both in his power.

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you.Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.

“ So who am I, that I should try to answer God or even reason with him?

What do you gain by oppressing me? Why do you reject me, the work of your own hands, while smiling on the schemes of the wicked?

Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established fairness. You have acted with justice and righteousness throughout Israel.

If it’s a question of strength, he’s the strong one. If it’s a matter of justice, who dares to summon him to court?
