When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Alike whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man:

主所福、誰能禍之、主所禍、誰能福之、其待人或一國、或匹夫、無二理也。

天主賜人綏安、誰能擾亂、天主若掩面、誰能覲之、其待一國待一人皆如是、

But if he remains silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he is over individual and nation alike,

But if he remains silent, who can judge him? If he turns his face away, who can see him? He rules over individual people and nations alike.

When he is quiet, who can condemn? When he hides his face, who can behold him, whether it be a nation or a man?—

But if he chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation.

But when God is silent, who can declare him guilty? When he hides his face, who can see him? Yet he watches over both individuals and nations,

When He keeps quiet, who can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can look at Him, That is, regarding both nation and a person?—

When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when He hides His face, who then can see Him, Whether it is against a nation or a man alone?—

But when God is silent, who can declare Him guilty? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both individuals and nations,

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.

Hide not thy face from me; Put not thy servant away in anger: Thou hast been my help; Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

And Job again took up his parable, and said,Oh that I were as in the months of old, As in the days when God watched over me;When his lamp shined upon my head, And by his light I walked through darkness;

Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.

And it shall come to pass in the day that Jehovah shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy trouble, and from the hard service wherein thou wast made to serve,that thou shalt take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!Jehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers;that smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, that ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.Yea, the fir- trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid low, no hewer is come up against us.

Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me, Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.

And it shall come to pass, that the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith Jehovah, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things?Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth;who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; And backward, but I cannot perceive him;On the left hand, when he doth work, but I cannot behold him; He hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him.

And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence for ever.

Moreover all the chiefs of the priests, and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted the house of Jehovah which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending, because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling- place:but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or virgin, old man or hoary- headed: he gave them all into his hand.

Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again; He shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.And at the end of three years they took it: in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,because they obeyed not the voice of Jehovah their God, but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and Jehovah had given him rest from all his enemies round about,
