「我立掃羅為王，我感到遺憾，因為他轉去不跟從我，不遵守我的命令。」撒母耳就很生氣，終夜哀求耶和華。

他們在宴席上彈琴，鼓瑟，擊鼓，吹笛，飲酒，卻不留意耶和華的作為，也不留心他手所做的。

他們既然不尊重耶和華的作為，也不尊重他手所做的，耶和華就必毀壞他們，不建立他們。

我們卻不是退縮以致沉淪的那等人，而是有信心以致得生命的人。

但保羅認為不宜帶他去，因為馬可從前在旁非利亞離開他們，不和他們一起工作。

因為底馬貪愛現今的世界，已經離棄我，往帖撒羅尼迦去了；革勒士往加拉太去；提多往撻馬太去；

並那些轉去不跟從耶和華，不尋求耶和華，也不求問他的。」

「現在，你們心裏要想一想，從今日起，耶和華的殿還沒有一塊石頭放在石頭上的情況。那時你們怎麼了？有人來到二十斗的穀堆那裏，卻只得了十斗；有人來到酒池那裏要取五十桶，卻只得了二十桶。我以焚風、霉爛、冰雹攻擊你們，和你們手上的各樣工作，你們仍不歸向我。這是耶和華說的。你們心裏要想一想，從今日起，就是從這九月二十四日起，從立耶和華殿根基的日子起，你們心裏想一想：倉裏還有穀種嗎？葡萄樹、無花果樹、石榴樹、橄欖樹雖沒有結果子，從今日起，我必賜福。」

因為他們恨惡知識，選擇不敬畏耶和華，不聽我的勸戒，藐視我一切的責備，

凡有智慧的必在這些事上留心，他必思想耶和華的慈愛。

至於那偏行彎曲道路的人，耶和華必將他們和作惡的人一同驅逐出去。願平安歸於以色列！

在那日，人在屋頂上，東西在屋裏，不要下來拿；人在田裏，也不要回家。你們想想羅得的妻子吧！

牛認識主人，驢認識主人的槽；以色列卻不認識，我的民卻不明白。」
