拦阻人的性命不下在坑里，又阻止他的生命不死在刀下。

to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword.

He wants to stop them from going down into the grave. He doesn’t want them to be killed by swords.

还是你藐视神丰富的恩慈、宽容和忍耐，不晓得他的恩慈是要领你悔改的吗？

他不信他能从黑暗中转回，自己留给刀剑杀害。

他救赎我的性命免入深坑，我的生命必得见光明。’

主决不耽延他的应许，像有些人以为他是耽延的一样；其实他是宽容你们，不愿有一人灭亡，却愿人人都悔改。

并且要以我们的主恒久忍耐为给人得救的机会，就如我们所亲爱的弟兄保罗，按照所赐给他的智慧，写给你们的一样；

狱吏醒过来，看见监门全开，以为囚犯都已经逃脱了，就拔出刀来想要自刎。保罗大声呼叫说：“不要伤害自己，我们都在这里！”狱吏叫人拿了灯来，就冲进去，战战兢兢地俯伏在保罗和西拉面前，随后领他们出来，说：“先生，我应该作什么才可以得救？”他们说：“当信主耶稣，你和你一家人都必定得救。”他们就把主的道，讲给他和所有在他家里的人听。就在当夜的那个时候，狱吏领他们去洗伤，狱吏和他家人都受了洗，

恩待他，说：‘救赎他免下深坑；我已经得到了赎价。’

要把人的性命从深坑里救回来，好使活人之光光照他。

他的性命接近深坑，他的生命靠近灭命的天使。
