but no stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler—

No stranger ever had to spend the night in the street. My door was always open to travelers.

( the sojourner has not lodged in the street; I have opened my doors to the traveler),

I have never turned away a stranger but have opened my doors to everyone.

No stranger had to spend the night on the street, for I opened my door to the traveler.

The stranger has not spent the night outside, For I have opened my doors to the traveler.

( But no sojourner had to lodge in the street, For I have opened my doors to the traveler);

( The sojourner hath not lodged in the street; But I have opened my doors to the traveller);

( the foreigner has not camped in the street, but I have opened my doors to the traveler);

“ My lords,” he said,“ please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”“ No,” they answered,“ we will spend the night in the square.”But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. (niv)

“ You are welcome at my house,” the old man said.“ Let me supply whatever you need. Only don’t spend the night in the square.”So he took him into his house and fed his donkeys. After they had washed their feet, they had something to eat and drink. (niv)

Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. (niv)

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. (niv)

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. (niv)

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, (niv)

if I have kept my bread to myself, not sharing it with the fatherless—but from my youth I reared them as a father would, and from my birth I guided the widow— (niv)

“ The King will reply,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (niv)

“ They also will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’“ He will reply,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ (niv)

There they stopped to spend the night. They went and sat in the city square, but no one took them in for the night. (niv)

and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds. (niv)

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? (niv)
