If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold,[ Thou art] my confidence;

“我若以黄金为指望，对精金说：你是我的倚靠；

“我若以黄金为我的指望，对纯金说：你是我的倚靠；

“我若以黄金为我的指望，对纯金说：你是我的倚靠；

“我若仰仗金子，依靠纯金，

我若以黄金为我所信靠的，又对精金说：‘你是我所靠赖的’；

我若以黃金為指望，對精金說：你是我的倚靠；

「我若以黃金為我的指望，對純金說：你是我的倚靠；

「我若仰仗金子，依靠純金，

我若以黃金為我所信靠的，又對精金說：‘你是我所靠賴的’；

『我若以金子為我所安心信賴的，而對黃金說：「你是我所倚靠」；

我若惟金是望、謂精金曰、爾為我之所恃、

我不以金為寶、亦不以兼金為可恃。

何曾以金為望、何曾云精金為我所恃、

“ If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security,’

“ Suppose I’ve put my trust in gold. I’ve said to pure gold,‘ You make me feel secure.’

“ If I have made gold my trust or called fine gold my confidence,

“ Have I put my trust in money or felt secure because of my gold?

If I placed my confidence in gold or called fine gold my trust,

“ If I have put my confidence in gold, And called fine gold my trust,

“ If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold,‘ You are my confidence’;

If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

If I placed my confidence in gold or called fine gold my trust,

“ If I have put my confidence in gold or said to pure gold,‘ You are my security!’

“ If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold,‘ You are my confidence;’

He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

The rich man’s wealth[ is] his strong city: the destruction of the poor[ is] their poverty.

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;None[ of them] can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

Lo,[ this is] the man[ that] made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches,[ and] strengthened himself in his wickedness.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

And he heard the words of Laban’s sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that[ was] our father’s; and of[ that] which[ was] our father’s hath he gotten all this glory.

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart[ upon them].

Lest I be full, and deny[ thee], and say, Who[ is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God[ in vain].

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Lest[ when] thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt[ therein];And[ when] thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
