For what hope have the godless when they are cut off, when God takes away their life? (niv)

“ The lamp of a wicked man is snuffed out; the flame of his fire stops burning.The light in his tent becomes dark; the lamp beside him goes out. (niv)

I myself have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed. (niv)

Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors!They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies. (niv)

He will no longer be rich and his wealth will not endure, nor will his possessions spread over the land.He will not escape the darkness; a flame will wither his shoots, and the breath of God’s mouth will carry him away.Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless, for he will get nothing in return.Before his time he will wither, and his branches will not flourish.He will be like a vine stripped of its unripe grapes, like an olive tree shedding its blossoms.For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of those who love bribes. The enemy boasted,‘ I will pursue, I will overtake them. I will divide the spoils; I will gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them.’But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. (niv)

As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. (niv)

The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy.But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. (niv)

Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, (niv)
