Don’t you know this from old time, since man was placed on earth,

你岂不知亘古以来，自从人生在地，

難道你不知道，從古至今，自從世上有人以來，

你不知亙古以來，自從地上有人以來，

豈不知、亙古以來、自從有人在地上、

爾豈不知伊古以來、置人於世、

豈不聞自生民以來、有古語焉。

豈不知自亙古、自有人在世以來、作惡者歡呼不長、偽善者喜樂不過俄頃、

“ Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since mankind was placed on the earth,

“ I’m sure you must know how things have always been. They’ve been that way ever since human beings were placed on this earth.

Do you not know this from of old, since man was placed on earth,

“ Don’t you realize that from the beginning of time, ever since people were first placed on the earth,

Don’t you know that ever since antiquity, from the time a human was placed on earth,

Do you know this from ancient times, From the establishment of mankind on earth,

“ Do you not know this of old, Since man was placed on earth,

Knowest thou not this of old time, Since man was placed upon earth,

Don’t you know that ever since antiquity, from the time man was placed on earth,

Knowest thou[ not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,

“ Surely you know that it has been from old, ever since humankind was placed on the earth,

I said,‘ Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.’

“ Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.( For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)

God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them,“ Be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth.The fear of you and the dread of you will be on every animal of the earth, and on every bird of the sky. Everything that moves along the ground, and all the fish of the sea, are delivered into your hand.Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As I gave you the green herb, I have given everything to you.

God blessed them. God said to them,“ Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The heavens are Yahweh’s heavens, but he has given the earth to the children of men.

With us are both the gray- headed and the very aged men, much elder than your father.
