以錐劃之、以鉛鑄之、勒之於石、歷久不刊。

“ The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron; With the point of a diamond it is engraved On the tablet of their heart, And on the horns of your altars,

And you shall write very plainly on the stones all the words of this law.”

Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.

And the stones shall have the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each one with its own name; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.

And it shall be, on the day when you cross over the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, that you shall set up for yourselves large stones, and whitewash them with lime.You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you,‘ a land flowing with milk and honey,’ just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you.

With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall set them in settings of gold.And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders as a memorial.
