But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last And where is he?

但人死亡而消灭；他气绝，竟在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但壮士一死就消逝了；人一气绝，他在何处呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一咽气，就不知去向。

人死了，就化为乌有；人一气绝就不在了。

但人死亡而消滅；他氣絕，竟在何處呢？

但壯士一死就消逝了；人一氣絕，他在何處呢？

但人一死，就失去力量；人一嚥氣，就不知去向。

人死了，就化為烏有；人一氣絕就不在了。

但人死了就過去；人一氣絕，究竟在哪裏呢？

惟人死而僵、其氣既絕、則安在哉、

人則異是、始則血衰、既而氣絕、歸於無有。

惟人死則滅、人氣絕則安在、

But a man dies and is laid low; he breathes his last and is no more.

No man is like that. When he dies, he is buried in a grave. He takes his last breath. Then he is gone.

But a man dies and is laid low; man breathes his last, and where is he?

“ But when people die, their strength is gone. They breathe their last, and then where are they?

But a person dies and fades away; he breathes his last— where is he?

But a man dies and lies prostrate. A person passes away, and where is he?

But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

But man dies and is powerless; he expires– and where is he?

But man dies, and is laid low. Yes, man gives up the spirit, and where is he?

So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, They will not awake Nor be roused from their sleep.

Oh, remember that my life is a breath! My eye will never again see good.The eye of him who sees me will see me no more; While your eyes are upon me, I shall no longer be.As the cloud disappears and vanishes away, So he who goes down to the grave does not come up.He shall never return to his house, Nor shall his place know him anymore.

‘ Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Oh, that I had perished and no eye had seen me!

“ Why did I not die at birth? Why did I not perish when I came from the womb?

And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God,

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

But the eyes of the wicked will fail, And they shall not escape, And their hope— loss of life!”

Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.

If I wait for the grave as my house, If I make my bed in the darkness,If I say to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ And to the worm,‘ You are my mother and my sister,’Where then is my hope? As for my hope, who can see it?Will they go down to the gates of Sheol? Shall we have rest together in the dust?”

The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has a refuge in his death.

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.
