維彼惡人、其目必盲、無處逃避、彼之所望、必泯滅如氣、

But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their hope will become a dying gasp.”

But sinful people won’t find what they are looking for. They won’t be able to escape. All they can hope for is to die.”

But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last.”

爾在異邦、必不得安、不得立足之地、主必在彼使爾心恐目盲、衷懷憂患、

凡於友行詭譎、使友受凌辱者、其子女必盼至目穿、不得所望、或作凡因諂人誣告友朋者其子女必盼至目穿不得所望

何曾使貧者不得所願、使嫠婦不得所望、

詛父母者、其燈必滅、必處幽暗、

忘天主者、景象亦若是、偽善者所望、亦若是歸於無有、所賴者必絕、所恃者如蛛網、

譬諸人避獅而遇熊、入室手倚墻壁、為蛇所噬、主之日豈非幽暗無光、晦冥無耀乎、

郇民曰、我儕望人濟助、竟屬徒然、望眼欲穿、我俟鄰國救我、終不能救、

天主降災其身、不施矜恤、欲逃避天主手而不能、

我儕若輕忽救道如此之大者、何能逃罪乎、此道主始言之、而聞之者、明證於我儕、

在哈底哈底有譯陰間有譯地獄痛苦之中、舉目遙見亞伯拉罕、又見拉撒路在其懷中、乃呼曰、我祖亞伯拉罕、矜恤我、遣拉撒路以指尖蘸水涼我舌、因我在此火燄中苦甚、亞伯拉罕曰、我子、當憶爾生前已受諸福、拉撒路已受諸苦、今彼得慰、而爾受苦、不第此也、爾我之間、限一巨壑、欲由此過爾處不能、由彼過我處亦不能、

偽善之人、雖得貨財、天主既絕其命、尚有何望、或作偽善者既被翦除其命為天主所絕尚有何望

疾趨者不得脫逃、強壯者不得施力、英武者英武者或作勇士不能自救、

我見主立於祭臺旁、旁或作上諭我曰、爾擊柱頂、使門楣門閾、擊柱頂使門楣門閾或作擊門楣使門柱震動損壞、損壞或作折碎壓於眾首、彼所遺留之人、彼所遺留之人或作彼之後裔我必誅之以刃、逃避者無人、脫免者無人、雖掘至示阿勒、示阿勒有譯黃泉有譯陰府有譯墳墓我手必取之由彼、雖升於天、我必降之由彼、雖匿於迦密之巔、我將搜而取之下、雖藏於海底、以避我目、我必命蛇噬之於彼、

行惡者即遁於幽暗死陰、無以自匿、

惡人所懼、必臨及其身、善人所欲、主必賜之、

我因呼號困乏、我喉已乾、我因仰望我天主、我目已倦、

我必懲罰爾、降爾以可驚之災、患癆患熱、致目倦心傷、播種徒勞、必為敵所食、

所恃者必移於其幕、或作必移於所恃之幕被逐至可畏之王前、
