爾手造我、甄陶成形、乃欲滅我、

我之百體、爾所甄陶、奚為滅我。

主手造我、製我四肢百體、今欲滅我乎、

“ Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?

Your hands fashioned and made me, and now you have destroyed me altogether.

“‘ You formed me with your hands; you made me, yet now you completely destroy me.

“ Your hands shaped me and formed me. Will you now turn and destroy me?

‘ Your hands fashioned and made me altogether, Yet would You destroy me?

‘ Your hands have made me and fashioned me, An intricate unity; Yet You would destroy me.

Thy hands have framed me and fashioned me Together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

“ Your hands shaped me and formed me. Will You now turn and destroy me?

Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

“ Your hands have shaped me and made me, but now you destroy me completely.

“‘ Your hands have framed me and fashioned me altogether, yet you destroy me.

You made me and formed me with your own hands. Give me understanding so that I can learn your commands.

Bring back everyone who belongs to me. I created them to bring glory to me. I formed them and made them.”

Does it make you happy when you crush me? Does it please you to turn your back on what you have made? While you do those things, you smile on the plans of sinful people!

So I went down to the potter’s house. I saw him working at his wheel.His hands were shaping a pot out of clay. But he saw that something was wrong with it. So he formed it into another pot. He shaped it in the way that seemed best to him.Then the Lord’ s message came to me.“ People of Israel, I can do with you just as this potter does,” announces the Lord.“ The clay is in the potter’s hand. And you are in my hand, people of Israel.Suppose I announce that something will happen to a nation or kingdom. Suppose I announce that it will be pulled up by the roots. And I announce that it will be torn down and destroyed.But suppose the nation I warned turns away from its sins. Then I will not do what I said I would. I will not bring trouble on it as I had planned.But suppose I announce that a nation or kingdom is going to be built up and planted.And then it does what is evil in my eyes. It does not obey me. Then I will think again about the good things I had wanted to do for it.

The Lord was very sad that he had made human beings on the earth. His heart was filled with pain.So the Lord said,“ I created human beings, but I will wipe them out. I will also destroy the animals, the birds in the sky, and the creatures that move along the ground. I am very sad that I have made human beings.”
