He was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields, and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain.The Pharisees said to him,“ Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?”He said to them,“ Did you never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry— he, and those who were with him?How he entered into God’s house at the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?”He said to them,“ The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there who had his hand withered.They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.He said to the man who had his hand withered,“ Stand up.”He said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?” But they were silent.When he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts, he said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as healthy as the other.The Pharisees went out, and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

John 7:21-23
Jesus answered them,“ I did one work and you all marvel because of it.Moses has given you circumcision( not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man completely healthy on the Sabbath?

Luke 13:10-17
He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day.Behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years. She was bent over, and could in no way straighten herself up.When Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her,“ Woman, you are freed from your infirmity.”He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight and glorified God.The ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude,“ There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!”Therefore the Lord answered him,“ You hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath, and lead him away to water?Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”As he said these things, all his adversaries were disappointed and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

Now on the second Sabbath after the first, he was going through the grain fields. His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate, rubbing them in their hands.But some of the Pharisees said to them,“ Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath day?”Jesus, answering them, said,“ Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, he, and those who were with him;how he entered into God’s house, and took and ate the show bread, and gave also to those who were with him, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests alone?”He said to them,“ The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”It also happened on another Sabbath that he entered into the synagogue and taught. There was a man there, and his right hand was withered.The scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man who had the withered hand,“ Rise up, and stand in the middle.” He arose and stood.Then Jesus said to them,“ I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?”He looked around at them all, and said to the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his hand was restored as sound as the other.But they were filled with rage, and talked with one another about what they might do to Jesus.

Matthew 12:1-14

His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him,“ Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”But he said to them,“ Haven’t you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him;how he entered into God’s house, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the priests?Or have you not read in the law, that on the Sabbath day, the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are guiltless?But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.But if you had known what this means,‘ I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you wouldn’t have condemned the guiltless.For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”He departed from there, and went into their synagogue.And behold there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him,“ Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” that they might accuse him.He said to them,“ What man is there among you, who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it, and lift it out?Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day.”Then he told the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.But the Pharisees went out, and conspired against him, how they might destroy him.

When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.
