其实你心里明白，自己也曾多次咒骂别人。

这就表明律法的作用是刻在他们的心里，有他们的良心一同作证，他们的思想互相较量，或作控告、或作辩护。

列国陷入自己挖掘的坑中，他们的脚在自己暗设的网里缠住了。耶和华已经把自己显明，又施行了审判；恶人被自己手所作的缠住了。（希迦庸、细拉）

他们彼此说：“我们在对待弟弟的事上实在有罪。他向我们求情的时候，我们看见他心里的痛苦，却不肯听他，所以这次苦难临到我们身上了。”流本回答他们，说：“我不是对你们说过：‘不要伤害那孩子’吗？可是你们不肯听，现在流他血的罪要向我们追讨。”

你说不可奸淫，自己却奸淫吗？你憎恶偶像，自己却劫掠庙宇吗？

愿那些寻找我，要毁灭我命的，一同抱愧蒙羞；愿那些喜悦我遭害的，退后受辱。

他说完了这些话，那些与他为敌的人都惭愧；群众却都因他所行一切荣耀的事欢喜。

恶人的欢呼并不长久，不敬虔者的快乐，不过是暂时的吗？

又挫败狡猾人的计谋，使他们的手所作的无法成全；他使有智慧的人中了自己的诡计，使奸诈人的谋算快快失败。

愿那些控告我的，都羞愧灭亡；愿那些谋求害我的，都蒙羞受辱。

那时有成千上万的人聚在一起，甚至彼此践踏。耶稣就先对门徒说：“你们要提防法利赛人的酵，就是虚伪。没有什么掩盖的事不被揭露，也没有什么隐藏的事不被人知道。所以，你们在暗处所说的，必在明处被人听见；在内室附耳所谈的，必在房顶上宣扬出来。

你作了这些事，我默不作声；你以为我和你一样？其实我要责备你，要当面指控你。

于是妇人对以利亚说：“神人哪，我跟你有什么关系呢？你竟到我这里来，使耶和华想起我的罪孽，杀死我的儿子。”

耶稣挺起身来，问她：“妇人，他们在哪里？没有人定你的罪吗？”

天必显露他的罪孽，地要兴起来攻击他，

王又对示每说：“你自己知道你心里的一切恶事，就是你向我父亲大卫所行的；现在耶和华要把你的罪归到你的头上。

耶稣又对众人说：“我是世界的光，跟从我的，必定不在黑暗里走，却要得着生命的光。”

当时耶稣的名声传扬出去，希律王也听到了。有人说：“施洗的约翰从死人中复活了，所以他身上有行神迹的能力。”又有人说：“他是以利亚。”还有人说：“他是先知，像古时先知中的一位。”希律听见就说：“是约翰，我砍了他的头，他又活了！”

黎明的时候，他又到圣殿去，众人都来到他那里，他就坐下教导他们。
