Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God. (niv)

Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. (niv)

Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. (niv)

For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. (niv)

Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him,but Jesus said to them,“ I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” (niv)

As it is written:“ There is no one righteous, not even one;there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”“ Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.”“ The poison of vipers is on their lips.”“ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”“ Their feet are swift to shed blood;ruin and misery mark their ways,and the way of peace they do not know.”“ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (niv)

“ The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. (niv)

“ But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. (niv)

Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.“ Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. (niv)

He was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors; and he received living words to pass on to us. (niv)

Then Jesus asked them,“ Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent. (niv)

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,“ Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” (niv)
