For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

I have not come down from heaven to do what I want to do. I have come to do what the one who sent me wants me to do.

“ I can do nothing on my own. I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

“ My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work,” Jesus told them.

No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven— the Son of Man.

Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him severely. When you make him a guilt offering, he will see his seed, he will prolong his days, and by his hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished.

Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man,he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms. The one who comes from heaven is above all.

For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

But what does“ he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower parts of the earth?

Going a little farther, he fell facedown and prayed,“ My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter,“ So, couldn’t you stay awake with me one hour?Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Again, a second time, he went away and prayed,“ My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”

Although he was the Son, he learned obedience from what he suffered.

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

For even Christ did not please himself. On the contrary, as it is written, The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.

Then I said,“ See— it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, God.”After he says above, You did not desire or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings( which are offered according to the law),he then says, See, I have come to do your will. He takes away the first to establish the second.

Then I said,“ See, I have come; in the scroll it is written about me.I delight to do your will, my God, and your instruction is deep within me.”
