毋意我將訟爾於父、有一訟爾者、即爾所恃之摩西、

勿以為予將訟爾於父、訟爾者固另有人在、即爾所信賴之摩西是已。

“ But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.

“ Do not think I will bring charges against you in front of the Father. Moses is the one who does that. And he is the one you build your hopes on.

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

“ Yet it isn’t I who will accuse you before the Father. Moses will accuse you! Yes, Moses, in whom you put your hopes.

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have put your hope.

Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you— Moses, in whom you trust.

“ Do not suppose that I will accuse you before the Father. The one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope.

“ Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

Now we know that whatever the law says speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.For no one will be justified in His sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.

They ridiculed him:“ You’re that man’s disciple, but we’re Moses’ disciples.We know that God has spoken to Moses. But this man— we don’t know where He’s from!”

Didn’t Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law! Why do you want to kill Me?”

Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rest in the law, boast in God,know His will, and approve the things that are superior, being instructed from the law,and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness,an instructor of the ignorant, a teacher of the immature, having the full expression of knowledge and truth in the law—you then, who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach,“ You must not steal”— do you steal?You who say,“ You must not commit adultery”— do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob their temples?You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?For, as it is written: The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.For circumcision benefits you if you observe the law, but if you are a lawbreaker, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.Therefore if an uncircumcised man keeps the law’s requirements, will his uncircumcision not be counted as circumcision?A man who is physically uncircumcised, but who fulfills the law, will judge you who are a lawbreaker in spite of having the letter of the law and circumcision.For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh.On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart— by the Spirit, not the letter. That man’s praise is not from men but from God.

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them.But the righteousness that comes from faith speaks like this: Do not say in your heart,“ Who will go up to heaven?” that is, to bring Christ downor,“ Who will go down into the abyss?” that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim:If you confess with your mouth,“ Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written: Everyone who does not continue doing everything written in the book of the law is cursed.

Now if the ministry of death, chiseled in letters on stones, came with glory, so that the Israelites were not able to look directly at Moses’ face because of the glory from his face— a fading glory—how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness overflows with even more glory.In fact, what had been glorious is not glorious now by comparison because of the glory that surpasses it.For if what was fading away was glorious, what endures will be even more glorious.

“ Why then,” they asked Him,“ did Moses command us to give divorce papers and to send her away?”He told them,“ Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts. But it was not like that from the beginning.

All those who sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all those who sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do You say?”They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him. Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger.

Once I was alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to lifeand I died. The commandment that was meant for life resulted in death for me.For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.Therefore, did what is good cause my death? Absolutely not! On the contrary, sin, in order to be recognized as sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment, sin might become sinful beyond measure.For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am made out of flesh, sold into sin’s power.

When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only He was left, with the woman in the center.
