Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

Moses lifted up the snake in the desert. In the same way, the Son of Man must also be lifted up.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,

The people came to Moses, and said,“ We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.

Jesus therefore said to them,“ When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.The multitude answered him,“ We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. How do you say,‘ The Son of Man must be lifted up?’ Who is this Son of Man?”

“ For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed,to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”

He said to them,“ This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled.”Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures.He said to them,“ Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

He took the twelve aside, and said to them,“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”

For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They have pierced my hands and feet.

He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, because in those days the children of Israel burned incense to it; and he called it Nehushtan.

him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed;

Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?”Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
