西门说：“老师，我们劳碌了一整夜，一无所获，但既然你这样吩咐，我就照你的话做。”

包括西庇太的两个儿子雅各和约翰。耶稣对西门说：“不要怕，从今以后，你将成为得人的渔夫。”于是他们把船靠岸后，撇下一切跟从了耶稣。

耶稣沿着加利利湖边行走的时候，看见被称为彼得的西门和安得烈两兄弟正在撒网打鱼，他们是渔夫。耶稣对他们说：“来跟从我！我要使你们成为得人的渔夫。”他们立刻撇下渔网，跟从了耶稣。

所以栽种的和灌溉的都算不得什么，一切都在于使之生长的上帝。

一群先知对以利沙说：“你看，我们住的地方实在太小了。请让我们去约旦河吧，我们每人都可以从那里砍一根木头盖房子居住。”以利沙说：“你们去吧。”其中一人请以利沙一起去，以利沙答应了，便和他们一起去约旦河砍伐树木。有个人砍树的时候，斧头掉进了水里。他大喊：“唉！师傅，这把斧头是借来的。”上帝的仆人问：“斧头掉在哪里了？”他就指给以利沙看。以利沙砍了一根树枝抛进水里，斧头便浮了上来。以利沙说：“你去拿上来吧！”他便伸手拿起了斧头。

你们自己知道应该怎样效法我们，因为我们在你们那里的时候，并没有懒懒散散，也没有白吃谁的饭，而是昼夜辛勤工作，免得成为你们任何人的负担。我们并不是没有权利接受供应，而是要给你们树立学习的榜样。

你们都知道，我亲手做工养活自己和同工。

难道只有我和巴拿巴要自食其力吗？

弟兄姊妹，你们一定记得我们的劳苦和艰难。我们一面向你们传福音，一面昼夜辛勤工作，免得成为你们任何人的负担。

他们夫妇跟保罗是同行，都以制造帐篷为业，保罗就留下来和他们同住，一起做工。
