So the Jews replied to Him,“ What sign of authority will You show us for doing these things?”

於是猶太人回答耶穌說：『你作這些事、能把甚麼神迹指給我們看呢？』

於是那些猶太人問耶穌說：「你做這些事，有什麼權柄的憑據給我們看呢？」

猶太人曰、爾既為此、則以何異蹟示我、

猶太人曰、爾既為此、以何異跡示我、

猶太人謂之曰、爾既為此、以何異跡示我、

而猶太人質詢之曰：『爾之為此、亦能示我以靈徵否？』

The Jews then responded to him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”

Then the Jewish leaders asked him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”

So the Jews said to him,“ What sign do you show us for doing these things?”

But the Jewish leaders demanded,“ What are you doing? If God gave you authority to do this, show us a miraculous sign to prove it.”

So the Jews replied to him,“ What sign will you show us for doing these things?”

The Jews then said to Him,“ What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?”

So the Jews answered and said to Him,“ What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”

The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

So then the Jewish leaders responded,“ What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”

The Jews therefore answered him,“ What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?”

“ What sign then are You going to do so we may see and believe You?” they asked.“ What are You going to perform?

“ Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to bring this man’s blood on us!”

They came again to Jerusalem. As He was walking in the temple complex, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders cameand asked Him,“ By what authority are You doing these things? Who gave You this authority to do these things?”

Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him,“ Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”But He answered them,“ An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at Jonah’s proclamation; and look— something greater than Jonah is here!The queen of the south will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and look— something greater than Solomon is here!

After they had Peter and John stand before them, they asked the question:“ By what power or in what name have you done this?”

The Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, demanding of Him a sign from heaven to test Him.

The Pharisees and Sadducees approached, and as a test, asked Him to show them a sign from heaven.He answered them:“ When evening comes you say,‘ It will be good weather because the sky is red.’And in the morning,‘ Today will be stormy because the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to read the appearance of the sky, but you can’t read the signs of the times.An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.

One day as He was teaching the people in the temple complex and proclaiming the good news, the chief priests and the scribes, with the elders, came upand said to Him:“ Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Who is it who gave You this authority?”

As the crowds were increasing, He began saying:“ This generation is an evil generation. It demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

So they asked him,“ Why then do you baptize if you aren’t the Messiah, or Elijah, or the Prophet?”

When He entered the temple complex, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to Him as He was teaching and said,“ By what authority are You doing these things? Who gave You this authority?”
