時有法利塞人尼閣德睦者、猶太之巨紳也。暮夜來謁耶穌曰：『夫子吾人深知子之來教誨也、乃奉天主之聖命、蓋子所行之靈蹟、苟非天主所輔佑、其孰能行之？』耶穌應之曰：『我切實語爾、人非重生不得見天主國。』尼閣德睦曰：『人既老、安得重生？寧能再入母胎、以得重生乎？』耶穌對曰：『我切實語爾、人非生於水及神者、無得入天主國。生於血肉者、屬於血肉、生於神者、乃屬於神。我告爾必須重生、勿以為異；天風翛然而作、爾聞其聲、而不知其何自何往、生於神者、亦復如是。』尼閣德睦曰：『安能有是？』耶穌曰：『汝為義塞之師、而猶昧於斯理耶？我切實語爾、吾人所知、吾人言之；吾人所見、吾人證之；而爾曹獨不納吾證。吾語汝以地上之事、汝猶未信、若語汝以天上之事、又如何能信。人未有升天者；有之惟降自天上、而仍在天上之人子。且正如摩西舉銅蛇於野、人子亦將被舉、俾信之者、得免淪亡、而獲永生。夫天主不惜以其惟一聖子賜之於世、俾凡信之者、得免淪亡、而獲永生、是其愛世之篤、為何如乎？蓋天主遣子入世非以判世、乃以濟世。故信之者不被譴、不信者譴在其中矣；以其不信天主惟一聖子之名也。夫真光入世、而世人以行為邪惡故、獨愛黑暗、而不愛光明；故曰譴在其中矣。蓋行為不正者、必惡真光、而莫敢與之近、惟恐其行為之見燭也。至踐履真道者、自與真光相親、所以彰其所行悉與天主相契合也。』

尼閣德睦即暮夜晉謁耶穌者、當時亦在其間、乃謂之曰：『未先聽訟、一究其所行、吾法豈能遽加以罪乎？』法利塞人應之曰：『汝亦加利利人耶？汝試一檢群經、應知加利利非出先知之地也！』

不折殘葦、不滅殘燈；所向風靡、以義為兵；

耶穌乃曰：『聽之、勿阻！蓋此女子之所為、所以備吾殮也！

禮日既終、瑪達蘭之瑪麗、偕雅谷伯之母瑪利亞、及沙羅梅、市香科、欲往傅耶穌遺體。

罪惡爾所厭。仁義爾所張。天主美爾德。膏澤迥殊常。
