祭司長和差役看見他，就喊着說：「釘他十字架！釘他十字架！」彼拉多說：「你們自己把他釘十字架吧！我查不出他有甚麼罪來。」

彼拉多對祭司長和眾人說：「我查不出這人有甚麼罪來。」

他並沒有犯罪，口裏也沒有詭詐。他被罵不還口；受害不說威嚇的話，只將自己交託那按公義審判人的主。

彼拉多見說也無濟於事，反要生亂，就拿水在眾人面前洗手，說：「流這義人的血，罪不在我，你們承當吧。」

乃是憑着基督的寶血，如同無瑕疵、無玷污的羔羊之血。

巡撫原知道他們是因為嫉妒才把他解了來。正坐堂的時候，他的夫人打發人來說：「這義人的事，你一點不可管，因為我今天在夢中為他受了許多的苦。」

保羅講論公義、節制，和將來的審判。腓力斯甚覺恐懼，說：「你暫且去吧，等我得便再叫你來。」腓力斯又指望保羅送他銀錢，所以屢次叫他來，和他談論。

眾人聽見從死裏復活的話，就有譏誚他的；又有人說：「我們再聽你講這個吧！」

彼拉多說：「為甚麼呢？他做了甚麼惡事呢？」他們便極力地喊着說：「把他釘十字架！」

他們就把他帶到亞略‧巴古，說：「你所講的這新道，我們也可以知道嗎？因為你有些奇怪的事傳到我們耳中，我們願意知道這些事是甚麼意思。」（

猶太人的祭司長就對彼拉多說：「不要寫『猶太人的王』，要寫『他自己說：我是猶太人的王』。」彼拉多說：「我所寫的，我已經寫上了。」

就對他們說：「你們解這人到我這裏，說他是誘惑百姓的。看哪，我也曾將你們告他的事，在你們面前審問他，並沒有查出他甚麼罪來；就是希律也是如此，所以把他送回來。可見他沒有做甚麼該死的事。故此，我要責打他，把他釋放了。」
