Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”

Then Pilate went back inside the palace. He ordered Jesus to be brought to him. Pilate asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”

So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him,“ Are you the King of the Jews?”

Then Pilate went back into his headquarters and called for Jesus to be brought to him.“ Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked him.

Then Pilate went back into the headquarters, summoned Jesus, and said to him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”

Therefore Pilate entered the Praetorium again, and summoned Jesus and said to Him,“ You are the King of the Jews?”

Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him,“ Are You the King of the Jews?”

Pilate therefore entered again into the Prætorium, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

Then Pilate went back into the headquarters, summoned Jesus, and said to Him,“ Are You the King of the Jews?”

Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

So Pilate went back into the governor’s residence, summoned Jesus, and asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”

Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him,“ Are you the King of the Jews?”

and he went back inside the palace.“ Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.

“ You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered,“ You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

and went up to him again and again, saying,“ Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,“ Hosanna!”“ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“ Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.So Pilate came out to them and asked,“ What charges are you bringing against this man?”

For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’“ Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”

So Pilate asked Jesus,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd,“ I find no basis for a charge against this man.”

Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him,“ Are you the king of the Jews?”“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.

Then Nathanael declared,“ Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”

“ Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate.“ You have said so,” Jesus replied.

“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me,“ You are my son; today I have become your father.Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting,“ If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”

In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you

“ Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.

“ Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”“ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”“ I tell you,” he replied,“ if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews.Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate,“ Do not write‘ The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.Pilate answered,“ What I have written, I have written.”
