They answered and said to him,“ If He were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.”

對曰、彼若非行惡者、我儕則不付於爾矣、

眾應曰：『苟非惡類、必不解之爾前。』

“ If he were not a criminal,” they replied,“ we would not have handed him over to you.”

“ He has committed crimes,” they replied.“ If he hadn’t, we would not have handed him over to you.”

They answered him,“ If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you.”

“ We wouldn’t have handed him over to you if he weren’t a criminal!” they retorted.

They answered him,“ If this man weren’t a criminal, we wouldn’t have handed him over to you.”

They answered and said to him,“ If this Man were not a criminal, we would not have handed Him over to you.”

They answered and said unto him, If this man were not an evil- doer, we should not have delivered him up unto thee.

They answered him,“ If this man weren’t a criminal, we wouldn’t have handed Him over to you.”

They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

They replied,“ If this man were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.”

They answered him,“ If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.”

“ Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles;

saying,‘ The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”

From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying,“ If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.”

And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people— for they knew He had spoken this parable against them.So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.Then they asked Him, saying,“ Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth:Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them,“ Why do you test Me?Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?” They answered and said,“ Caesar’s.”And He said to them,“ Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent.

And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.

And they began to accuse Him, saying,“ We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”Then Pilate asked Him, saying,“ Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him and said,“ It is as you say.”So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd,“ I find no fault in this Man.”But they were the more fierce, saying,“ He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.”
