“ If I said something wrong,” Jesus replied,“ testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?”

耶稣说：“我若说的不是，你可以指证那不是；我若说的是，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣回答他：“假如我说的不对，你指证不对的地方；假如我说的对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣说：“如果我说错了，你可以指出我错在哪里。如果我说的对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣对他说：“如果我讲错了，你可以指证错在哪里；如果我讲对了，你为什么打我呢？”

耶稣回答他：“如果我说得不对，你可以见证哪里不对；如果说得对，你为什么打我呢？”

耶穌說：「我若說的不是，你可以指證那不是；我若說的是，你為甚麼打我呢？」

耶穌回答他說：『我若講得不對，你可以指證那不對之處；若是對呢、你為甚麼打我？』

耶穌曰、我言若非、可證其非、若是、何批我耶、

耶穌曰、我言若非、則指證其非、若是、何批我乎、

耶穌應曰：『吾言非耶？儘可指證其非。吾言是耶？何擊予為。』

“ Have I said something wrong?” Jesus replied.“ If I have, then tell everyone what it was. But if I spoke the truth, why did you hit me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?”

Jesus replied,“ If I said anything wrong, you must prove it. But if I’m speaking the truth, why are you beating me?”

“ If I have spoken wrongly,” Jesus answered him,“ give evidence about the wrong; but if rightly, why do you hit me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If I have spoken wrongly, testify of the wrong; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”

Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou me?

“ If I have spoken wrongly,” Jesus answered him,“ give evidence about the wrong; but if rightly, why do you hit Me?”

Jesus replied,“ If I have said something wrong, confirm what is wrong. But if I spoke correctly, why strike me?”

Jesus answered him,“ If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?”

But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.“ He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.

By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you— I, Paul, who am“ timid” when face to face with you, but“ bold” toward you when away!

At this the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth.Then Paul said to him,“ God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!”Those who were standing near Paul said,“ How dare you insult God’s high priest!”Paul replied,“ Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written:‘ Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’”
