耶稣知道父已将万有交在他手里，且知道自己是从神出来的，又要归到神那里去，

耶稣说：“我虽然为自己作见证，我的见证还是真的；因我知道我从哪里来，往哪里去；你们却不知道我从哪里来，往哪里去。

父啊，现在求你使我同你享荣耀，就是未有世界以先，我同你所有的荣耀。

现今我往差我来的父那里去，你们中间并没有人问我：‘你往哪里去？’

逾越节以前，耶稣知道自己离世归父的时候到了。他既然爱世间属自己的人，就爱他们到底。

正祝福的时候，他就离开他们，被带到天上去了。

说了这话，他们正看的时候，他就被取上升，有一朵云彩把他接去，便看不见他了。当他往上去，他们定睛望天的时候，忽然有两个人身穿白衣，站在旁边，说：“加利利人哪，你们为什么站着望天呢？这离开你们被接升天的耶稣，你们见他怎样往天上去，他还要怎样来。”

“等不多时，你们就不得见我；再等不多时，你们还要见我。”

耶稣被接上升的日子将到，他就定意向耶路撒冷去，

从今以后，我不在世上，他们却在世上；我往你那里去。圣父啊，求你因你所赐给我的名保守他们，叫他们合而为一像我们一样。

你们听见我对你们说了，我去还要到你们这里来。你们若爱我，因我到父那里去，就必喜乐，因为父是比我大的。

现在我往你那里去，我还在世上说这话，是叫他们心里充满我的喜乐。
