人正说“平安稳妥”的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同产难临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

他们必惊惶悲痛；愁苦必将他们抓住。他们疼痛，好像产难的妇人一样，彼此惊奇相看，脸如火焰。

又对女人说：“我必多多加增你怀胎的苦楚；你生产儿女必多受苦楚。你必恋慕你丈夫；你丈夫必管辖你。”

因为经上记着：“不怀孕、不生养的，你要欢乐；未曾经过产难的，你要高声欢呼；因为没有丈夫的，比有丈夫的儿女更多。”

他使不能生育的妇人安居家中，为多子的乐母。你们要赞美耶和华！

产妇的疼痛必临到他身上；他是无智慧之子，到了产期不当迟延。我必救赎他们脱离阴间，救赎他们脱离死亡。死亡啊，你的灾害在哪里呢？阴间哪，你的毁灭在哪里呢？在我眼前绝无后悔之事。

撒拉说：“神使我喜笑，凡听见的必与我一同喜笑”；又说：“谁能预先对亚伯拉罕说‘撒拉要乳养婴孩’呢？因为在他年老的时候，我给他生了一个儿子。”

拉结怀孕生子，说：“神除去了我的羞耻”，就给他起名叫约瑟，意思说：“愿耶和华再增添我一个儿子。”

妇人说：“主啊，我敢在你面前起誓，从前在你这里站着祈求耶和华的那妇人，就是我。我祈求为要得这孩子；耶和华已将我所求的赐给我了。

她怀了孕，在生产的艰难中疼痛呼叫。天上又现出异象来：有一条大红龙，七头十角；七头上戴着七个冠冕。它的尾巴拖拉着天上星辰的三分之一，摔在地上。龙就站在那将要生产的妇人面前，等她生产之后，要吞吃她的孩子。妇人生了一个男孩子，是将来要用铁杖辖管万国的；她的孩子被提到神宝座那里去了。

伊利莎白的产期到了，就生了一个儿子。邻里亲族听见主向她大施怜悯，就和她一同欢乐。
