“ I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.

「我把這些事告訴你們，以免你們失去信心。

『這些事我對你們說了，是要使你們不絆跌。

「我把這些事告訴了你們，免得你們被絆倒。

我以此語爾、免爾傾覆、

我以此告爾、免爾厭棄我、

我以此告爾、免爾因我躓蹶、

予以此預告、庶幾來日爾等意志不致搖動。

“ All this I have told you so that you will not fall away.

“ I have told you all this so that you will not turn away from the truth.

“ I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away.

“ I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling.

“ These things I have spoken to you so that you will not be led into sin.

“ These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble.

“ I have told you these things to keep you from stumbling.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

“ I have told you all these things so that you will not fall away.

“ I have said these things to you so that you wouldn’t be caused to stumble.

And,“ He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.

But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.

Yes, I’m telling you these things now, so that when they happen, you will remember my warning. I didn’t tell you earlier because I was going to be with you for a while longer.

For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.

On the way, Jesus told them,“ Tonight all of you will desert me. For the Scriptures say,‘ God will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’But after I have been raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there.”Peter declared,“ Even if everyone else deserts you, I will never desert you.”

And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other.

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.

And he added,“ God blesses those who do not fall away because of me.”

“ If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.Do you remember what I told you?‘ A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.They will do all this to you because of me, for they have rejected the one who sent me.They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin.Anyone who hates me also hates my Father.If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate me and my Father.This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures:‘ They hated me without cause.’“ But I will send you the Advocate— the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.

And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them,“ A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.”

I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!
