於是，他們就拿起石頭要打祂，耶穌卻避開他們，離開了聖殿。

「主人誇獎這個不義的管家精明。因為今世的兒女在處理世事方面比光明的兒女更精明。

你們從前活在黑暗中，現在既然活在主的光明中，行事為人就該像光明的兒女。

你們都是光明之子，白晝之子。我們既不屬於黑夜，也不屬於黑暗。

因為主這樣吩咐我們，『我已使你成為外族人的光，好把救恩帶到地極。』」外族人聽後，非常歡喜，頌讚主的道。凡被選定得永生的人都信了主。

起來，發光吧！因為你的光已經來到，耶和華的榮耀已經照在你身上。

他來是為光做見證，叫世人可以藉著他而相信。

我們既屬於白晝，就應當保持清醒，要把信心和愛心當作護心鏡遮胸，把得救的盼望當作頭盔戴上。

所以耶穌不再公開地在猶太人中間露面。祂離開伯大尼，前往靠近曠野的地方，到了以法蓮城，就和門徒住下來。

但遵行真理的人喜歡接近光，好顯明他所做的是靠上帝做的。」

他們又要抓耶穌，但祂從他們手中逃脫了。後來，耶穌到了約旦河東岸約翰從前施洗的地方，在那裡住下來。

若有人說自己在光明中，卻恨他的弟兄姊妹，他就仍然活在黑暗裡。愛弟兄姊妹的人活在光明中，沒有什麼可以絆倒他。恨弟兄姊妹的人活在黑暗中，走在黑暗中，不知何去何從，因為黑暗弄瞎了他的眼睛。

然後，祂便離開他們，到城外伯大尼住宿。
