When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the Passover.

The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

This is how you shall eat it: with your belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste: it is Yahweh’s Passover.For I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and animal. I will execute judgments against all the gods of Egypt. I am Yahweh.The blood shall be to you for a token on the houses where you are. When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.This day shall be a memorial for you. You shall keep it as a feast to Yahweh. You shall keep it as a feast throughout your generations by an ordinance forever.

All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the wide place that was in front of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Yahweh had commanded to Israel.Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.He read from it before the wide place that was in front of the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand. The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people( for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up.Then Ezra blessed Yahweh, the great God. All the people answered,“ Amen, Amen,” with the lifting up of their hands. They bowed their heads, and worshiped Yahweh with their faces to the ground.Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law; and the people stayed in their place.They read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all the people,“ Today is holy to Yahweh your God. Don’t mourn, nor weep.” For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.Then he said to them,“ Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of Yahweh is your strength.”So the Levites calmed all the people, saying,“ Hold your peace, for the day is holy. Don’t be grieved.”All the people went their way to eat, to drink, to send portions, and to celebrate, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.

It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread, and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might seize him by deception, and kill him.

It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said,“ It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.

They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.

I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, Yahweh,

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double- minded.

There were certain men, who were unclean because of the dead body of a man, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day, and they came before Moses and Aaron on that day.

Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled.”Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and drink of the cup.

After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

He said,“ Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to Yahweh. Sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice.” He sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

When the seventh month had come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak stood up with his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.In spite of their fear because of the peoples of the surrounding lands, they set the altar on its base; and they offered burnt offerings on it to Yahweh, even burnt offerings morning and evening.They kept the feast of booths, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required;and afterward the continual burnt offering, the offerings of the new moons, of all the set feasts of Yahweh that were consecrated, and of everyone who willingly offered a free will offering to Yahweh.From the first day of the seventh month, they began to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh; but the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was not yet laid.

Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ way of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece.

When Jesus had finished all these words, he said to his disciples,

Then Jacob said to his household, and to all who were with him,“ Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, change your garments.

Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.He said to the people,“ Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”

amid which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, not with a mob, nor with turmoil.
