这些事以后，耶稣周游加利利，不愿在犹太往来，因为犹太人想要杀他。

因为人要扬名，没有在隐秘的地方行事的，如果你要做这些事，该把自己显明给世人看。”

耶稣又往约旦河的东边去，到了约翰起初施洗的地方，就住在那里。

耶稣知道法利赛人听见他收门徒和施洗比约翰还多，（其实不是耶稣亲自施洗，而是他的门徒施洗，）他就离开犹太，又回加利利去。

耶稣回答他：“我一向都是公开地对世人讲话，我常在会堂和圣殿里，就是犹太人聚集的地方教导人，我私下并没有讲什么。

但他的兄弟们上去过节以后，他也上去，不是公开去，却似乎是秘密地去的。

过了二年，有人在靠近以法莲的巴力‧夏琐为押沙龙剪羊毛。押沙龙请了王所有的儿子来。

可是没有人公开谈论他，因为他们怕犹太人。
