以色列的守望者都瞎了眼，没有知识；都是哑狗，不会吠叫，只知做梦，躺卧，贪睡，这些狗贪食，不知饱足。这些牧人不知明辨，他们都偏行己路，人人追求自己的利益。他们说：“来吧！我去拿酒，让我们畅饮烈酒吧！明天必和今天一样，甚至更好！”

我知道，在我离开以后必有凶暴的豺狼进入你们中间，不顾惜羊群。

同样，执事也必须庄重，不一口两舌，不好酒，不贪不义之财；

不酗酒，不打人；要温和，不好斗，不贪财。

因为底马贪爱现今的世界，已经离弃我，往帖撒罗尼迦去了；革勒士往加拉太去；提多往挞马太去；

监督既然是神的管家，必须无可指责、不自负、不暴躁、不酗酒、不好斗、不贪财；

看门的给他开门，羊也听他的声音。他按着名叫自己的羊，把羊领出来。

“你们要防备假先知。他们到你们这里来，外面披着羊皮，里面却是残暴的狼。

务要牧养在你们当中神的群羊，按着神的旨意照顾他们，不是出于勉强，而是出于甘心；也不是因为贪财，而是出于乐意。

“看哪！我差你们出去，如同羊进入狼群，所以你们要机警如蛇，纯真如鸽。

“人子啊，你要向以色列的牧人说预言，对他们说，主耶和华如此说：祸哉！以色列的牧人只知牧养自己。牧人岂不当牧养群羊吗？你们吃肥油、穿羊毛、宰杀肥羊，却不牧养群羊。瘦弱的，你们不调养；有病的，你们不医治；受伤的，你们未包扎；被逐的，你们不去领回；失丧的，你们不寻找；却用暴力严严地辖制它们。它们因无牧人就分散；既分散，就成为一切野兽的食物。我的羊流落众山之间和各高冈上，分散在全地，无人去寻，无人去找。
