遍地蕭條、恍若沙漠、人蹤罕至、焉得哲人、蒙予啟示、而言其故。

誰為智者、能明此事、誰蒙主諭、能宣示國緣何而滅亡、地緣何而焚燬、成如沙漠、無人來往、

Who is wise enough to understand this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it? Why has the land been ruined and laid waste like a desert that no one can cross?

Who is wise enough to understand these things? Who has been taught by the Lord? Who can explain them? Why has the land been destroyed so completely? Why has it become like a desert that no one can go across?

Who is the man so wise that he can understand this? To whom has the mouth of the Lord spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land ruined and laid waste like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?

Who is wise enough to understand all this? Who has been instructed by the Lord and can explain it to others? Why has the land been so ruined that no one dares to travel through it?

I said,“ Who is wise enough to understand why this has happened? Who has a word from the LORD that can explain it? Why does the land lie in ruins? Why is it as scorched as a desert through which no one travels?”

這殿雖然甚高，將來經過的人必驚訝、嗤笑，說：『耶和華為何向這地和這殿如此行呢？』人必回答說：『是因此地的人離棄領他們列祖出埃及地之耶和華－他們的神，去親近別神，事奉敬拜他，所以耶和華使這一切災禍臨到他們。』」 (cunpt)

「你將這一切的話指示這百姓。他們問你說：『耶和華為甚麼說，要降這大災禍攻擊我們呢？我們有甚麼罪孽呢？我們向耶和華－我們的神犯了甚麼罪呢？』你就對他們說：『耶和華說：因為你們列祖離棄我，隨從別神，事奉敬拜，不遵守我的律法，而且你們行惡比你們列祖更甚；因為各人隨從自己頑梗的惡心行事，甚至不聽從我，所以我必將你們從這地趕出，直趕到你們和你們列祖素不認識的地。你們在那裏必晝夜事奉別神，因為我必不向你們施恩。』」 (cunpt)

其中的先知同謀背叛，如咆哮的獅子抓撕掠物。他們吞滅人民，搶奪財寶，使這地多有寡婦。其中的祭司強解我的律法，褻瀆我的聖物，不分別聖的和俗的，也不使人分辨潔淨的和不潔淨的，又遮眼不顧我的安息日；我也在他們中間被褻慢。其中的首領彷彿豺狼抓撕掠物，殺人流血，傷害人命，要得不義之財。其中的先知為百姓用未泡透的灰抹牆，就是為他們見虛假的異象，用謊詐的占卜，說：『主耶和華如此說』，其實耶和華沒有說。國內眾民一味地欺壓，慣行搶奪，虧負困苦窮乏的，背理欺壓寄居的。我在他們中間尋找一人重修牆垣，在我面前為這國站在破口防堵，使我不滅絕這國，卻找不着一個。所以我將惱恨倒在他們身上，用烈怒的火滅了他們，照他們所行的報應在他們頭上。這是主耶和華說的。」 (cunpt)

百姓若說：『耶和華－我們的神為甚麼向我們行這一切事呢？』你就對他們說：『你們怎樣離棄耶和華，在你們的地上事奉外邦神，也必照樣在不屬你們的地上事奉外邦人。』」當傳揚在雅各家，報告在猶大說： (cunpt)

「許多國的民要經過這城，各人對鄰舍說：『耶和華為何向這大城如此行呢？』他們必回答說：『是因離棄了耶和華－他們神的約，事奉敬拜別神。』」 (cunpt)

你們的後代，就是以後興起來的子孫，和遠方來的外人，看見這地的災殃，並耶和華所降與這地的疾病，又看見遍地有硫磺，有鹽鹵，有火跡，沒有耕種，沒有出產，連草都不生長－好像耶和華在忿怒中所傾覆的所多瑪、蛾摩拉、押瑪、洗扁一樣－所看見的人，連萬國人，都必問說：『耶和華為何向此地這樣行呢？這樣大發烈怒是甚麼意思呢？』人必回答說：『是因這地的人離棄了耶和華－他們列祖的神，領他們出埃及地的時候與他們所立的約，去事奉敬拜素不認識的別神，是耶和華所未曾給他們安排的。所以耶和華的怒氣向這地發作，將這書上所寫的一切咒詛都降在這地上。耶和華在怒氣、忿怒、大惱恨中將他們從本地拔出來，扔在別的地上，像今日一樣。』 (cunpt)

念這書上預言的和那些聽見又遵守其中所記載的，都是有福的，因為日期近了。 (cunpt)

惟願他們有智慧，能明白這事，肯思念他們的結局。 (cunpt)

你們看見他們所行所為的，得了安慰，就知道我在耶路撒冷中所行的並非無故。這是主耶和華說的。」 (cunpt)
