異邦之人、斯會之眾、宜聽我言、知禍將及。

故異邦人、爾曹當聽、斯會之眾、當知斯民所將遭者、

So pay attention, you nations. You are witnesses for me. Watch what will happen to my people.

So the LORD said,“ Hear, you nations! Be witnesses and take note of what will happen to these people.

He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:“ Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.”And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice.

“ Now you dwellers in Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.

My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

“ Hear the word of the Lord, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:‘ He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’

Then I said,“ Alas, Sovereign Lord! How completely you have deceived this people and Jerusalem by saying,‘ You will have peace,’ when the sword is at our throats!”

All the nations will ask:“ Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”And the answer will be:“ It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.”
