You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a derision to those all around us.You make us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples.My dishonor is continually before me, And the shame of my face has covered me,Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles, Because of the enemy and the avenger.

I will give it as plunder Into the hands of strangers, And to the wicked of the earth as spoil; And they shall defile it.I will turn My face from them, And they will defile My secret place; For robbers shall enter it and defile it.

“ And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”

He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down.Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking,“ How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot?”And he said to me,“ For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”

Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying,“ Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

Then she who is my enemy will see, And shame will cover her who said to me,“ Where is the Lord your God?” My eyes will see her; Now she will be trampled down Like mud in the streets.

And I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the nations.

All who pass by clap their hands at you; They hiss and shake their heads At the daughter of Jerusalem:“ Is this the city that is called‘ The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth’?”All your enemies have opened their mouth against you; They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say,“ We have swallowed her up! Surely this is the day we have waited for; We have found it, we have seen it!”The Lord has done what He purposed; He has fulfilled His word Which He commanded in days of old. He has thrown down and has not pitied, And He has caused an enemy to rejoice over you; He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.

“ Return, you backsliding children, And I will heal your backslidings.”“ Indeed we do come to You, For You are the Lord our God.Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, And from the multitude of mountains; Truly, in the Lord our God Is the salvation of Israel.For shame has devoured The labor of our fathers from our youth— Their flocks and their herds, Their sons and their daughters.We lie down in our shame, And our reproach covers us. For we have sinned against the Lord our God, We and our fathers, From our youth even to this day, And have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”
