“ Babylon must fall because of Israel’s slain, just as the slain in all the earth have fallen because of Babylon.

“ Babylon’s people have killed my people Israel. They have also killed people all over the earth. So now Babylon itself must fall.

Babylon must fall for the slain of Israel, just as for Babylon have fallen the slain of all the earth.

“ Just as Babylon killed the people of Israel and others throughout the world, so must her people be killed.

“但我必在你们眼前报复巴比伦和迦勒底所有的居民在锡安所作的一切恶事。”这是耶和华的宣告。

“抢夺我产业的啊！你们虽然欢喜快乐，像踹谷的母牛犊跳跃，像雄壮的马嘶叫；

锡安的居民要说：“愿巴比伦以强暴待我们（“我们”或译：“我和我骨肉之亲”）的罪归到巴比伦身上。”耶路撒冷要说：“愿流我血的罪归到迦勒底的居民身上。”

将要被毁灭的（“将要被毁灭的”有古译本作“毁灭者”）巴比伦城（“城”原文作“女子”）啊！照着你待我们的行为报复你的，那人有福了。抓住你的婴孩摔在磐石上的，那人有福了。

你们怎样判断人，也必怎样被判断；你们用什么标准衡量人，也必照样被衡量。

比色王说：“从前有七十个王，手脚的大拇指都被我砍去，在我的桌子底下拾取食物；现在神照着我所行的，报应我了。”于是他们把他带到耶路撒冷，后来他就死在那里。

万军之耶和华这样说：“以色列人被压迫，犹大人也一样受到欺压；所有俘掳他们的都紧紧抓住他们，不肯释放他们。但他们的救赎主大有能力，万军之耶和华是他的名；他必认真地为他们的案件申辩，好使那地得到安宁，却使巴比伦的居民惶乱不安。

因为她的罪恶滔天，神已经想起她的不义来。她怎样待人，你们也要怎样待她；照着她所作的，加倍报应她；用她调酒的杯，加倍调给她。

耶和华已为我们伸冤；来吧！我们要在锡安宣扬耶和华我们神的作为。你们要磨尖箭头，拿起盾牌（“拿起盾牌”《七十士译本》译作“装满箭袋”）；耶和华定意要毁灭巴比伦，所以激动玛代诸王的心；这是耶和华的报复，就是为他的殿而施行的报复。

以色列是被赶散的羊，它被狮子赶逐。先是亚述王把它吞灭，现在巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒要咬碎它的骨头。因此，万军之耶和华神这样说：“看哪！我必惩罚巴比伦王和他的国土，像我以前惩罚亚述王一样，

因为对不行怜悯的人，审判他们的时候就没有怜悯；怜悯胜过审判。
