“ A sword against the Babylonians!” declares the Lord—“ against those who live in Babylon and against her officials and wise men!

“ A sword is coming against the Babylonians!” announces the Lord.“ It is coming against those who live in Babylon. It is coming against their officials and wise men.

“ A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord, and against the inhabitants of Babylon, and against her officials and her wise men!

“ The sword of destruction will strike the Babylonians,” says the Lord.“ It will strike the people of Babylon— her officials and wise men, too.

A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the LORD’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her sages.

A sword against the Chaldeans,” declares the Lord,“ And against the inhabitants of Babylon And against her leaders and her wise men!

“ A sword is against the Chaldeans,” says the Lord,“ Against the inhabitants of Babylon, And against her princes and her wise men.

A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith Jehovah, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the Lord’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her sages.

“ Destructive forces will come against the Babylonians,” says the LORD.“ They will come against the people who inhabit Babylonia, against her leaders and her men of wisdom.

“ A sword is on the Chaldeans,” says Yahweh,“ and on the inhabitants of Babylon, on her princes, and on her wise men.

耶和華的刀劍哪，你要到幾時才可停下來呢？請你入鞘吧！休息靜止吧！

刀劍必在他們的城中飛舞，毀壞他們的門閂，因著他們自己的計謀，吞滅他們。

當夜，迦勒底人的王伯沙撒被殺。

王大聲呼叫，吩咐人把那些用法術的和迦勒底人，以及占星家都領進來；王對巴比倫的智慧人說：“誰能讀這文字，又能向我解釋它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，頸戴金鍊，在國中掌權，位列第三。”於是王所有的智慧人都進來，卻不能讀那文字，也不能把意思向王說明。

我必使巴比倫的領袖和智慧人，省長、總監和勇士都喝醉，永遠沉睡，不再醒來。”這是君王的宣告，萬軍之耶和華是他的名。

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣大擺筵席，他和他們一同喝酒。伯沙撒喝酒歡暢的時候，下令把他先祖尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿裡掠取的金銀器皿拿來，好讓他和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪用這些器皿來喝酒。

所以，它的年輕人必仆倒在它的街道上，到那一天，它所有的戰士都必被消滅。”這是耶和華的宣告。

我從北方興起一人，他就來了；他從日出之地而來，呼求我的名；他必來踐踏掌權的，好像踐踏灰泥，又像陶匠踹泥一樣。

萬國的王啊！誰敢不敬畏你呢？這是你應得的。因為在列國所有的智慧人中，以及在他們的全國裡，沒有可以跟你相比的。

智慧人必蒙羞，驚惶失措。看哪！他們棄絕了耶和華的話，他們還有甚麼智慧呢？

耶和華的話就臨到我說：

因為耶和華必用火和刀劍，在所有的人身上施行審判，被耶和華所殺的人必定很多。

瑣安的領袖非常愚昧，法老那些最有智慧的謀士所籌算的，都成為愚昧。你們怎能對法老說：“我是智慧人的兒子，是古代君王的後裔”呢？你的智慧人在哪裡呢？萬軍之耶和華向埃及所定的旨意是怎樣的？就讓他們告訴你，使你知道吧！瑣安的領袖都變為愚昧，挪弗的領袖都受了欺騙；那些在埃及支派中作房角石的，使埃及人走錯了路。

“那丟棄羊群的無用牧人有禍了！願刀劍落在他的膀臂和他的右眼上；願他的膀臂全然枯槁，願他的右眼完全失明！”

我使說假話者的兆頭失效，使占卜者都變成愚昧人；我使有智慧的人後退，使他們的知識變為愚拙。

使刀劍臨到你們，報復背約的仇；聚集你們到城裡，好使我打發瘟疫在你們中間，把你們交在仇敵的手裡。

你因你許多的計劃而勞累；現在讓那些劃分天象的，觀看星辰的，在月朔時說預言的，都站起來，拯救你脫離要臨到你身上的事。看哪！他們必像碎稭，火必要焚燒他們；他們不能救自己脫離火燄的威力；這不是可以烤火取暖的火炭，也不是可以坐在它面前的火。

因此，看哪！我要再向這子民施行奇事，就是奇妙又奇妙的事；他們智慧人的智慧必要消沒，他們聰明人的聰明必被隱藏。”

他們食慾大動的時候，我必為他們擺設筵席，使他們喝醉，狂歡亂叫，然後永遠沉睡，不再醒來（這是耶和華的宣告）。

要擊殺它所有的公牛，使他們下去被屠殺！他們有禍了！因為他們的日子，就是他們受懲罰的時候，來到了。
