Her time is at hand, and her days will not be prolonged. (niv)

your mother will be greatly ashamed; she who gave you birth will be disgraced. She will be the least of the nations— a wilderness, a dry land, a desert.Because of the Lord’s anger she will not be inhabited but will be completely desolate. So the Lord said,“ I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created— and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground— for I regret that I have made them.” (niv)

Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said:“ With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.The music of harpists and musicians, pipers and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No worker of any trade will ever be found in you again. The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.The light of a lamp will never shine in you again. The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again. Your merchants were the world’s important people. By your magic spell all the nations were led astray. (niv)

They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the Lord and the weapons of his wrath— to destroy the whole country.Wail, for the day of the Lord is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.Because of this, all hands will go limp, every heart will melt with fear.Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.See, the day of the Lord is coming— a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. (niv)

Blow the trumpet among the nations! Prepare the nations for battle against her; summon against her these kingdoms: Ararat, Minni and Ashkenaz. Appoint a commander against her; send up horses like a swarm of locusts. (niv)
